This is a summary of Project Solar’s Terms and Conditions for Optimisation and Grid Services.  

What are Project Solar+ optimisation and grid services?

We’re using Artificial Intelligence to automate the following services for you:

  Battery and Grid Optimisation– we help you get the best value from your energy, whether you’re using, charging, storing or selling it back to the grid. This includes:

  • using weather forecasts to decide whether or when to use solar energy or charge from the grid;
  • buying energy when prices are lower and using it or selling it/excess solar energy back to the grid when prices are higher

This can help you save money on your energy bills.

 Grid services – your assets may be used for energy demand reduction and energy demand increase services in the energy market e.g. by using less electricity than you normally would at certain times or by being on standby for emergency grid events. This reduces pressure on the grid at peak times and minimises use of fossil-fuels. Where we elect to pass on any benefit arising from your participation in grid services, we may, at our sole discretion, provide eligible customers with a benefit in such form as we determine from time to time, which may include but is not limited to account credits, vouchers, product discounts, or other forms of reward. Any such benefit is subject to eligibility criteria, availability, and the terms of any reward program, which we may introduce, vary, or withdraw at any time without notice. Participation in grid services does not guarantee the receipt of any reward, payment, or benefit.

Are you eligible?

Yes, as long as:

  you are over 18 and we’ve installed your solar pv system

  you have a working electricity smart meter which can give us/our trusted partner half hourly readings

  you agree to us/our trusted partner collecting half-hourly readings

 you agree we can share your personal data with third parties as set out in our privacy policy and our Ts and Cs for optimisation and grid services – see links below

 you download our Project Solar App and agree to these key terms

the “Project Solar App” means any Project Solar mobile application notified to you by Project Solor, available at the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, and as applicable and as updated or amended by Project Solar from time to time.

Participation

  • you confirm you have not already signed up with any other flexibility provider for your solar pv system
  • you agree not to sign up with any other flexibility provider in future unless you end your agreement with us
  • you agree to opt in to all optimisation and grid services available from Project Solar for your solar pv system and can’t choose to take some of the services only
  • not all optimisation and grid services may be available for your solar pv system – we’ll provide the services that are
  • not all optimisation and grid services may be available at all time, we do not guarantee access to these services
  • you agree that we/Joulen can control your battery energy storage system and inverter to enable the services to be provided
  • you agree that your battery will not be scheduled for the first few weeks after we/Joulen take control of your battery energy storage system whilst we work out how to optimise it
  • the list of Grid Services provide will change from time to time and you agree to regularly check the following link or our website to see what grid services are available
  • you may achieve cost savings on your energy bills from the optimisation services, but we don’t guarantee any specific level of energy savings and it can take up to 12 months from the start of services for you to save money
  • you may receive rewards from the grid services that you can exchange in return for various benefits such as vouchers or discounted products
  • the timescales for receipt of any rewards vary from grid service to grid service

Data

  • the optimisation and grid services are managed for us by Power On Technologies Limited trading as Joulen
  • you agree that we and/or Joulen may collect and share your data as required to provide those services
  • in providing the optimisation and grid services, we and Joulen will comply with all applicable data protection and privacy laws/regulations
  • any data, including personal data, collected to enable the provision of the services will only be used to provide the services and sensitive personal data will be protected
  • we may share your name, address, email address, customer reference number, maximum import/export capacity, whether you export to the grid, Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN), meter manufacturer, model and serial number, battery and inverter information, information on power generation, half-hourly metered energy consumption, energy export, usage information and other details about your participation in the optimisation and grid services with National Grid ESO and Joulen
  • if you withdraw consent to the collection and sharing of data, the services will stop and you won’t receive any future benefit
